This isnt really news but if you dont know it yet Adobe has a couple of programs that allow students and unemployed developers to get a free copy of Flex Builder 3 (you can also get Cold Fusion 8 for educational purposes). For students you need to get a scan/photo of your student id and send it here . This is a good thing, sort of like Microsoft did with VS express, even better I might add since you dont get the crippled version of Flex Builder.
I’ve specified that this programme is targeted towards Flex Builder 3, as you might know, Flash Builder 4(or Flex builder 4 or Gumbo) is in its beta stage and is made publicly downloadable and “testable” for 30 days. You can get the trial version here.
This gets better, lets say you test it and find it stable enough to use it on a daily basis(replace this with production), what do you do when the trial expires. Well if you start testing it, the trial will surely expire until it’s official release(not even announced but could be around Adobe MAX or early 2010). Adobe provided the solution for this case also, If you have a legit serial number of Flex builder 3, you can request a beta extension key for Flash Builder 4 here . If you think of combining these 2 programs, get a free Flex Builder 3 key and use it to unlock the extension on Flash Builder 4, you can go for it, it works. How nice is Adobe lately ?

PS:If you pirated Flex Builder until now and qualify in one of the categories above (or at least can prove you qualify:) ) it may be the best time to forget about torrents and go legit, GO ADOBE!!
